A couple have been banned for life by Jet2 after allegedly engaging in sexual behaviour on a flight to Gran Canaria before it had even taken off. The incident left fellow passengers shocked and led to complaints to the cabin crew.
The flight was due to depart from East Midlands Airport when the pair, believed to be in their 50s, were seen behaving inappropriately in their seats. Witnesses described the situation as obvious and uncomfortable, particularly as families with children were on board.
Passengers alerted the crew, who intervened and spoke to the couple. According to reports, the pair claimed they were praying because it was their first time flying, although fellow travellers disputed this.
Despite the disruption, the flight continued to the Canary Islands as scheduled. However, the couple were later removed from their hotel and prevented from boarding their return flight.
In a statement, Jet2 confirmed the passengers have been permanently banned. The airline said it operates a zero-tolerance policy towards unacceptable behaviour, particularly on family-friendly services.
