A full investigation remains ongoing after a British cyclist was fatally hit by a car on the TF-652 road in the south of Tenerife last Monday evening. The incident took place at around 8.10pm at kilometre 6 of the carriageway in the municipality of Arona.
Emergency services arrived at the scene but could only confirm the cyclist had died, suffering injuries judged “incompatible with life”.
The cyclist has been identified by the UK press as a holidaymaker from Liverpool called Harry, and claims that the perpetrator fled the scene and hasn’t been arrested.
Following the crash, road-maintenance crews secured and cleared the carriageway, local police controlled the traffic, and officers from Guardia Civil opened a formal investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
At this stage, the investigation remains open and authorities have not ruled out or confirmed any hypothesis, whether the collision was accidental or involved other factors.
Canarian Weekly will follow developments and report new findings as they emerge.
