An international burglary gang has been dismantled by the Guardia Civil after a wave of break-ins across Tenerife. The group is believed to have targeted over ten homes since the beginning of the year.
The operation, codenamed "Quincrus", resulted in the arrest of three men, all with extensive criminal records. A judge has since ordered their immediate remand in custody as investigations continue.
According to police, the gang meticulously planned each burglary. They carefully selected properties, often monitoring residents to learn their daily routines and pinpoint weaknesses in home security. Once a house was chosen, they forced entry through doors or windows using tools like crowbars, lock picks, and other break-in equipment.
Their sights were set on high-value items: jewellery, designer watches, cash, and personal valuables that could be quickly resold or trafficked. The gang also took extreme measures to avoid detection, including the use of false identities and frequently altering their movements to stay ahead of police surveillance.
But their luck eventually ran out. Following weeks of intensive investigation, officers secured a search warrant for the suspects’ residence. The raid uncovered a stash of stolen goods, including jewellery, luxury watches, and the tools used to carry out their crimes.
The three suspects remain in pre-trial detention, facing serious charges related to organised burglary and theft. If convicted, they will face lengthy prison sentences.
