Injured teenager airlifted from the sea in the south of Tenerife

A male teenager suffered a shoulder injury while swimming in the sea by Costa del Silencio in the south of Tenerife yesterday (Friday), and had to be rescued by helicopter because he couldn’t get out of the water.

The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) reported that they received an alert at 5:10pm requesting help because the 18-year-old couldn’t get out of the water because he was badly injured.

They immediately dispatched a GES helicopter to the location given, where other bathers in the water helped him until the emergency services arrived.

When the helicopter came, the crew airlifted him from the sea and flew him to the Tenerife South Airport where an ambulance was waiting for him.

After medical personnel has assessed and treated him, he was transferred to the Hospital del Sur for further treatment to his shoulder.
