Iconic bikini that Raquel Welch wore whilst filming on Mount Teide is up for auction

The bikini worn by legendary actress Raquel Welch in the 1966 film 'A Million Years BC' is set to go under the hammer on April 12th, marking one year since she died at the age of 82.

The iconic two-piece, worn by Welch at the age of 26, during the filming in Las Cañadas del Teide (Tenerife), Maspalomas (Gran Canaria), and Timanfaya (Lanzarote), earned her the nickname 'The Body.'

Welch's rapid rise to fame as a sex symbol started with her portrayal of cavewoman Loana in the film. Despite only having 33 lines of dialogue, it was her appearance in the tiny beige bikini that catapulted her to stardom.

Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles will oversee the sale, featuring nearly 500 items from the actress, including some of her luxurious cars, her Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque, and her Golden Globe for Best Actress which she won in 1974 for her role as Constance in The Three Musketeers.

The Hollywood star who embodied grace, glamour, and charisma, left an indelible mark with her star-making performance in A Million Years BC, creating one of the most recognisable cinematic images in history, and one of the best-selling movie posters of all time.
