Huge marijuana plantation raided in the South of Tenerife

The Guardia Civil and Customs Surveillance officials have arrested two people after raiding a marijuana farm in the South of Tenerife, where they seized over 700 plants inside greenhouses. The harvest of the plantation was distributed across Europe using parcel services, as well as supplying a local "Coffee Shop" and "Grow Shop" in the south.

‘Operation Hungry’ was launched after various suspicious parcels were flagged at the offices of the Automated Post Processing Centre in Taco (Tenerife), which were found to have marijuana buds inside that investigators wanted to find the source of and the senders.

All information and data pointed to a house in the hills in the south of Tenerife, which agents raided finding 91 kilos of marijuana buds ready to distribute, and over 700 marijuana plants in greenhouses on the land of the property.

They also seized useful materials and tools for packaging and mailing the drugs, from bud dryers, precision weights, and lamps, to cash.

During the raid, an Italian and a Hungarian man were both arrested and accused of the crime of marketing and distributing marijuana and narcotic substances derived from the illegal cultivation of the drug.

The two men are currently in custody and the plants and buds are being destroyed while the investigation is still ongoing into the places they supplied on the island.
