A hotel in Costa Adeje had to be evacuated this morning after receiving a bomb threat that fortunately turned out to be a hoax call. The Sheraton La Caleta in the south of Tenerife is undergoing extensive renovation work after being bought by the NH Group, which includes changing the name to the Tivoli La Caleta Tenerife.
The alert was received at 7.30 this morning (Tuesday) from an anonymous call, and the workman had to stop and the hotel be evacuated due to the call claiming there was a bomb on site.
However, a short time after, the police verified that it was a hoax call and that they had located the person responsible for it, so work was able to resume as confirmed by the hotel group in a statement this afternoon.
