Holidaymaker in critical condition after near-drowning at Costa Adeje hotel pool
A female holidaymaker is fighting for her life after a serious incident at a swimming pool at a hotel in Costa Adeje, south Tenerife, yesterday afternoon (Saturday), according to reports from the emergency services (CECOES).
The alert was raised at around 1:30pm after a lifeguard at the complex pulled the woman from the water and immediately requested medical assistance.
Before emergency crews arrived, a coordinating nurse from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) helped guide the lifeguard through life-saving steps via tele-assistance from the 112 operations room, keeping the woman alive until ambulances and paramedics got to the hotel.
On arrival, medical personnel assessed the victim, who was showing severe symptoms of drowning. After stabilising her at the scene, she was urgently transported to Hospital Hospiten Sur in Las Americas for further treatment.
The Local Police assisted emergency crews by securing access routes for the ambulances and taking initial statements as part of their investigation into the incident.
