A male holidaymaker has been hospitalised in critical condition in the early of this morning (Friday) for injuries he sustained after falling from an apartment balcony onto a tarmac road below in Playa de Las Americas in the south of Tenerife.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident occurred around 1:40am at a holiday complex on Avenida del Arquitecto Gómez Cuesta in the centre of Las Americas.
Emergency SUC medical personnel, along with a doctor and nurse from the local health centre, provided immediate assistance to the injured tourist at the scene of the accident.
Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was initially taken to Hospiten Sur where he was stabilised, before being transferred to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria for specialist treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the fall from the balcony remain under investigation as the police work to determine the cause of the accident.
