UPDATE: Hero lifeguard saved 4-year-old British boy’s life

Updated: 5/5/23  11:16 AM

Since we published the article yesterday about a 4-year-old boy’s life being saved by paramedics after he was pulled unconscious from a hotel pool in the south of Tenerife, his mother has contacted us to correct some of the details regarding the incident, including the fact that he is British.

She told us that the lifeguard at the La Siesta hotel, located on Avenida Rafel Puig in Playa Las Americas, was an absolute hero because it was him who rescued her young son and gave him CPR at the side of the pool, and it was him who successfully revived him before paramedics even got there.

It was at this point, when he was conscious again, that paramedics arrived and checked him over before taking him to hospital for routine observation.

His mother has told us that her son is ok and recovering well after the incident, which was a terrible accident that she will relive for the rest of her life, but that the lifeguard deserves all the credit he gets for saving her son’s life.

From the editor:
We would like to clarify that we receive information regarding these incidents from the official 1-1-2 Emergency Services portal. They are required to publish a report in the public domain about every incident they attend, and as you can see, sometimes details can be very scarce and don’t always credit the correct people.

This is why we rarely have the details of the hotel they take place at or the nationality of the people involved. However, we are always delighted to correct them and give you as much correct information as we can.
