A Maritime Rescue helicopter successfully rescued two people in distress yesterday afternoon (Thursday) at La Tejita Beach in the south of Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
They sprang into action after receiving an alert concerning a woman in distress in the water off La Tejita Beach, which had prompted a man to bravely go into the water to assist her.
When the helicopter arrived at the scene, the man had reached the woman in the water and was calming her down and trying to rescue her, so the crew airlifted both of them to safety and flew them to the helipad at Tenerife South Airport just a short distance away.
Upon arrival at the airport, SUC Medical Personnel attended to the young woman, who, at the initial moment of assistance, showed symptoms of mild drowning. Barring complications, she was subsequently transported to the Hospiten Sur Hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, the man emerged from the incident unharmed.
The Local Police and Guardia Civil were also at the scene, collaborating with other emergency resources to ensure the smooth execution of the rescue operation. The coordinated efforts of these agencies played a crucial role in successfully resolving the incident at the beach.
