Health officials confirm that the coach driver in the La Gomera accident is the most seriously injured

The driver of the coach involved in yesterday’s crash in La Gomera is the most seriously injured of those involved, with doctors describing his condition as guarded in hospital in Tenerife, according to health officials.

Another two seriously injured patients are being treated in Tenerife, and are said to be recovering well. Three passengers being treated in hospital in La Gomera and are expected to be discharged tomorrow. Two of them are a couple who are being kept together for emotional support, while a third patient is also improving steadily.

Officials confirmed that the man who lost his life died at the scene of the crash. His body remained there under police supervision until the necessary legal procedures were completed and his wife could be informed.

Widow discharged and receiving support

The widow of the man who died in the crash has now been discharged from hospital. She is staying in a hotel with the other passengers and is being supported by clinical psychologists.

The British consulate is also assisting and helping to coordinate support for those affected.

All other passengers are currently staying in a hotel in San Sebastián de La Gomera, where they are receiving ongoing medical checks and emotional support before returning home.

Authorities have praised the coordinated response from emergency services and the care provided to those involved.
