The Guardia Civil have released a video following the discovery of a body in a ravine in Masca this morning. Although not officially identified yet, it is thought to be that of 19-year-old Jay Slater who went missing four weeks ago.
Although the search was officially announced as being stopped, mountain rescue teams continued in remote inaccessible ravines up to 600 metres below the trails that were originally searched, in dense vegetation.
It is thought that Jay may have had an accidental fall, whether he tripped, slipped, or from dehydration or exhaustion, and fallen into the deep ravine, hidden to the human eye and drones by the undergrowth.
The body has now been retrieved and taken for official identification and autopsy to confirm the cause of death. LBT Global, a charity for British persons missing overseas, are supporting the family at this distressing time and ask for everyone to “afford them space and privacy to come to terms with the news."
