The Guardia Civil has arrested a 45-year-old man suspected of several vehicle related thefts in Güímar (Tenerife) over the past two weeks, incidents that have caused "considerable concern” for the public, according to an official statement.
At the moment, the suspect faces charges for six offences, including three counts of theft from vehicles, one count of criminal damage, and two counts of stealing cars, but investigators believe there could be more.
Officers apprehended the man while he was inside a car, displaying what they described as "suspicious behaviour." Upon approaching the vehicle, they immediately recognised him due to his existing criminal record for similar offences.
A subsequent inspection revealed that the car did not belong to him and that the door had been forced open, prompting his immediate arrest.
Following the investigation, the Guardia Civil has linked the suspect to five additional crimes, further reinforcing the case against him. The police are continuing their inquiries as they work to establish the full extent of his criminal activities, while he is in custody.
