Gran Canaria hosted a total of 171 film and television productions during 2025, generating an estimated €110 million in investment, according to figures released by the island’s Cabildo this week.

The productions included feature films, television series, animation projects, documentaries and advertising campaigns. The Cabildo President Antonio Morales, said the figures represent a clear increase compared to 2024, with 24 more productions and €20 million more in investment, confirming what he described as “consolidated growth” in the audiovisual sector.

Morales highlighted that the Cabildo has made a strategic commitment to developing the film and TV industry as a way of diversifying Gran Canaria’s economy and creating employment opportunities. He noted that the results now show the sector has become firmly established on the island.

Speaking at a press conference to present the annual balance of audiovisual productions filmed on Gran Canaria in 2025, Morales said the activity generated 5,225 technical and service-related jobs over the year.

He also stressed that filming took place in almost every municipality on the island, reinforcing Gran Canaria’s reputation as a “natural film set”. Morales added that the economic impact of the productions was spread across different areas, showing the importance of maintaining close coordination with all 21 municipalities to ensure the benefits continue to be shared island-wide.
