Gerard Butler spotted filming 'Den of Thieves 2' in Tenerife

Hollywood actor, Gerard Butler, has been spotted in the streets of Santa Cruz this afternoon filming his new movie 'Den of Thieves 2’. The Scottish actor stars alongside Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) and O’Shea Jackson Jr for the second installment of this action thriller in which he is up against the Panther mafia.

Many changes can be seen in the main streets of Santa Cruz today due to the recording, as the film takes place in Marseille (France), including a ‘new’ jewellery shop on Calle Del Castillo, where a heist will take place, to a police booth at the crossroads of Calle Teobaldo Power and Calle Imeldo Serís.

These changes are part of a movie set but may surprise a few people who didn’t know about the filming, in the same way as the remodelling of Bar La Capilla on Calle Salamanca did a few weeks ago, which has now been converted into a French bar called La Chapelle for filming, much to the surprise of its regular customers.

'Den of Thieves 2' is the sequel to the 2018 hit movie which followed a team of bank robbers who plan an epic robbery in the city of Los Angeles. Butler stars as “Big Nick” Flanagan, a police detective leading the investigation into the robbery and dealing directly with the criminals.

The filming of the sequel has generated great excitement in Tenerife, where several action scenes and chases have been carried out in the streets of Santa Cruz, as well as in the sea and on the beach at Las Terisitas.

Gerard Butler's presence on the island has attracted the attention of the media and fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of this new action movie, in the same way as when Matt Damon did when he was here filming Jason Bourne in 2016, or Sylvester Stallone in 2018 for Rambo 5, and of course the whole cast of Fast and Furious, including the late Paul Walker in 2013.
