Four injured in accident by Tenerife South Airport

An accident involving two vehicles on the junction of the TF-1 motorway for the Tenerife South airport last night (Tuesday), left four people injured as a minibus ended up on its side, according to the Emergency Service Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The accident took place at 7:25pm between a van and a minibus on Avenida Aeropuerto Reina Sofía, and three people had to be freed by the fire brigade after being trapped inside the minibus after the collision.

In total four people were treated by paramedics for a varying degrees of injuries, before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

The accident caused long tailbacks on the TF-1, and at the airport, as the Guardia Civil had to re-route the traffic so that it could exit and enter the airport because the road was completely blocked.

Eventually, after the trapped people had been rescued and treated, highway services were able to clear the road so that the traffic could circulate as normal again, however, there are reports of people missing flights due to the traffic jams and delays.
