The Guardia Civil has reported this afternoon (Tuesday) that the owners of four dental prosthesis laboratories in Tenerife, are being investigated for ‘professional intrusion’ because they are working as dentists without the qualifications and permits required to do so, which is a crime that can be punished with a prison sentence of 6 months to 2 years.
The police investigation began as a result of a complaint filed by the Official College of Dentists in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which informed the Guardia Civil that four prosthetic laboratories located in various parts of Tenerife, including one in the south of the island, were performing services illegally, since the people carrying out the procedures worked without a degree in Dentistry.
The dental association provided the "necessary tests in which this type of practice prohibited in laboratories was evidenced, and that can only be carried out by dentists," the statement added.
The dental surgeries in question are located in Taco, La Orotava, and Los Realejos, with the one in the south located in Cabo Blanco. Work and Social Security inspectors have verified the legal situation of the people working there.
