Normal operations have resumed today (Tuesday) at airports in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, following severe fog yesterday that caused widespread disruption.
According to AENA sources, the fog resulted in a total of 70 flight cancellations and 18 diversions across the region.
The worst hit was Tenerife North Airport, which experienced 14 flight diversions and 57 cancellations. Other affected airports included El Hierro, with 12 cancellations, and La Palma, where four flights were diverted, and one was cancelled during the early hours of the day.
In contrast, La Gomera Airport reported no incidents during the foggy conditions.
The disruption caused significant inconvenience for passengers and highlights the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions in maintaining regular flight schedules in the Canary Islands.
