Flight from Canary Islands to UK diverted to Galicia due to medical emergency

An EasyJet flight en route from Tenerife South to Liverpool was forced to make an emergency diversion to Santiago de Compostela Airport in Galicia on Tuesday night after a 67-year-old woman lost consciousness onboard.

Spanish air traffic controllers reported that the crew of EZY3366 issued an urgent request to divert after the passenger became unresponsive. "The crew informed us they were attempting to resuscitate a 67-year-old woman who had fallen unconscious," the official statement said.

"We facilitated a continuous descent and coordinated an approach to runway 35 while arranging for immediate medical assistance on the ground."

The aircraft landed safely in Santiago, where emergency medical teams were on standby to attend to the passenger upon arrival.

Authorities have not yet released details about the woman’s condition. The incident underscores the importance of swift coordination between air crews and ground services during in-flight medical emergencies.
