The popular seafront promenade by the Maspalomas Lighthouse is about to undergo a major transformation aimed at turning it into a “five-star” space for both locals and visitors.

The 115-metre stretch of the Meloneras walkway, close to the iconic Faro de Maspalomas, will be completely refurbished with new paving, lighting, and ramps to improve accessibility.

The project represents an investment of €400,975 from the Gran Canaria Cabildo.

The works have been tendered by the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Consortium, a body formed by the Cabildo and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council.

Plans include repaving the promenade and pier, building a new accessible ramp to ease pedestrian movement, and replacing kerbs and steps. Public lighting will be modernised, new benches and fixtures will be installed, and railings, ramps, and staircases already in place will be repaired or upgraded.

The initiative seeks to raise the overall quality and appeal of this much-visited area, improving the well-known area around the Maspalomas Lighthouse, which is a listed Cultural Heritage Site and one of Gran Canaria’s best-known landmarks for both residents and tourists.
