Five injured, one seriously, when a car rolled down a ravine in Guía de Isora

The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) have reported that they received an alert at 1.21am this morning (Monday) informing them that a vehicle had plunged into a ravine on the TF-82, by the Chiguergue intersection in Guía de Isora, with five people inside it.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and freed one of the women who had been trapped inside the vehicle and rescued another three people who were injured.

Paramedics treated all the injured at the scene of the accident, including the female driver, of unknown age, who is in serious condition after being recovered from a cardiorespiratory arrest, for which she was transferred to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria.

Two men, aged 29 and 34 years old, both with moderate chest injuries and whiplash, were taken to the Quirón Costa Adeje Hospital in San Eugenio for further treatment.

Lastly, two women, aged 26 and 29 years old were transferred to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria with leg and hip injuries caused by the accident.

The Guardia Civil have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, in which no other vehicles were involved, but signs are that the female driver lost control going around a corner, maybe too fast, and are awaiting results from a blood test to determine if she was over the limit for drink or drugs.
