Festival in Tenerife suspended after a family feud
A late-night brawl involving around 20 people led to the suspension of a local festival in the northern Tenerife town of Tacoronte on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm during the Beer Festival in the coastal neighbourhood of Mesa del Mar.
According to witnesses, the dispute arose between two families following a disagreement over a group of young women, which quickly escalated into a mass altercation in the town square.
Local police were already present at the event and intervened immediately. Due to the public disturbance, officers made the decision to suspend the festivities and ordered the closure of all festival kiosks to prevent further escalation.
Thanks to this swift action, the situation was brought under control without any injuries being reported.
However, this was not the only disturbance in the area over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, police were once again called to Mesa del Mar following another altercation, this time involving surfers. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over wave priority and wave-sharing etiquette in the water.
Although tensions flared, this second confrontation was also resolved peacefully, with no injuries reported.
