Female fugitive facing 20 years in prison arrested in the south of Tenerife

The National Police have arrested a female fugitive in the south of Tenerife who is wanted by the authorities in the Czech Republic for multiple high-tech cyber fraud offences, forgery of payment methods, and financial fraud affecting the economic interests of the European Union.

The request for her location and arrest was received on 28th January by the National Police, as the Czech authorities had intelligence indicating that she was in Tenerife.

The alert prompted investigators to conduct a thorough analysis of available information, as the suspect had been taking strict security measures to avoid detection, necessitating a significant deployment of resources to track her down.

A few days later, officers obtained intelligence suggesting she was hiding in an apartment complex in the south of Tenerife, so specialised police units were dispatched to the location, where they spotted a couple matching the description of the wanted woman.

Upon verifying her identity, officers immediately placed her under arrest and took her into custody at the Las Americas police headquarters.

The suspect has now been handed over to the relevant judicial authorities for extradition proceedings requested by the Czech Republic. If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison.
