Fatal road accident in Tenerife leaves one dead and another injured
A serious traffic accident on Sunday evening has left one person dead and another injured in the north of Tenerife. The incident occurred around 6:55pm on the TF-42 road at kilometre 6, in the municipality of Icod de los Vinos.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the crash involved a motorbike and a car, which collided under circumstances that are still under investigation. Both drivers required immediate medical attention.
Emergency responders, including two ambulances and SUC medical personnel from the Hospital del Norte, were quickly on the scene. Sadly, paramedics could only confirm the death of the 43-year-old motorcyclist due to the severity of his injuries.
The driver of the car, who sustained moderate chest pain, was treated at the scene and then transported by ambulance to Hospital del Norte for further treatment.
Officers from the Guardia Civil took charge of the investigation and traffic management in the area, while road maintenance crews from the Tenerife Cabildo carried out the necessary cleaning and clearance operations.
Authorities are urging drivers to take extra caution on island roads, especially during peak travel periods, to help prevent further tragedies.
