Emergency rescue by helicopter in the south of Tenerife
An 81-year-old Norwegian man was rescued on Sunday by helicopter while hiking on the Ifonche trail in the municipality of Adeje in the south of Tenerife.
According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident occurred at 2:41pm yesterday (Sunday) when an alert was received requesting assistance for the hiker, who was experiencing a health issue.
In response, emergency resources were immediately mobilised to the location given.
The GES helicopter airlifted the hiker to Tenerife North Airport, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria for further treatment.
At the time of the initial assessment, the hiker's health condition was described as moderate.
Firefighters from Tenerife also attended the scene in case their support was needed during the rescue operation.
