The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) have reported that they received an alert around 10:05pm last night (Sunday), informing them that there was a large fire in an apartment block on Calle Valois in Puerto de la Cruz, with people trapped inside.
They immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources to the scene of the incident, where firefighters, the Local Police, and the National Police collaborated in extinguishing the fire and rescuing the residents of the building.
SUC medical personnel were on hand to assist 11people injured in the blaze, seven of who were members of the different emergency services involved, including two local police officers who were the first to appear at the scene, who need treatment for burns.
Only two members of the public needed to go to hospital, which were a 54-year-old woman who had burns on her legs and thighs, plus was suffering from smoke inhalation and was taken to the Hospiten Bellevue University Hospital.
Also, a 44-year-old man who also had moderate burns, was transferred in a sanitary ambulance to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
In addition, several people were assisted at the scene of the accident after suffering poisoning due to smoke inhalation, exhaustion due to heat collapse, or mild anxiety attacks.
