An 83-year-old Norwegian man has suffered serious injuries after falling approximately six metres from a balcony at a hotel in San Agustín, in Gran Canaria.
According to reports from the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when they received an alert for help and dispatched the necessary resources to the complex.
Firefighters rescued the injured man from a small ravine that he had fallen into and carried him on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance where a medical team assessed the man, who was found to be suffering from multiple severe injuries.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was airlifted by a medical helicopter to the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria for urgent treatment.
Local and National Police officers also attended the scene, providing support to emergency personnel and assisting with the helicopter landing operations.
Authorities are currently conducting the necessary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
