Eight arrested for selling cocaine after police raids in the south of Tenerife

The Guardia Civil have arrested eight people for drug dealing and belonging to a criminal group in the south of Tenerife, seizing over 17,000 euros in cash, 620 grams of cocaine, utensils for weighing and packaging the drug to prepare it to sell, a simulated firearm, and a high-end vehicle.

The arrests were made within the framework of 'Operation Danaca', and the detainees are five men and three women of Spanish, Uruguayan, and Brazilian nationalities, who all resided in the towns of El Medano, Los Cristianos, and Cabo Blanco.

According to the official press release, the investigation began in March when the presence of the group was detected, and an investigation was opened, but they proved hard to catch due to the way they operated.

The eight people involved were very careful not to sell any drugs from their addresses and especially at the main address where the vast majority of the seized cocaine was hidden, which is something drugs gangs do to prevent theft by opposing gangs or the seizure of the substances by the police.

However, after extensive surveillance and follow-ups, agents obtained sufficient evidence of the criminal activity to get a court order to enter and search the homes where those investigated resided, with the support of the Reserve and Security Group number 8, the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) and agents from the  Playa de Las Americas and canine departments.
