A driver is being investigated after allegedly knocking down three pedestrians, including two children, before fleeing the scene in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon on Avenida Juan XXIII in the capital, where emergency services received reports that several people had been hit by a car that then drove away.

According to Local Police reports, an investigation was launched immediately after the incident and officers managed to trace and locate the driver, who was given a breathalyser test, which he failed.

He is now under investigation for causing the accident and allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

No further details have yet been released about the condition of the injured pedestrians.

The case remains open and the investigation is ongoing by the Local Police of Las Palmas.
