Driver injured as truck collides with central reservation on TF-1 motorway

A 55-year-old man was left with chest injuries this morning (Wednesday) after the truck he was driving hit the central reservation on the TF-1 motorway blocking the road and causing major traffic jams from Playa de Las Américas to the San Isidro area in the south of Tenerife.

The incident occurred just after 6:45am, which is when the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting that a truck had crashed, and its driver needed medical assistance.

CECOES immediately dispatched the fire brigade, ambulances, and the police to the scene of the accident, where firemen freed the driver from the truck's cabin, as the vehicle's door had become jammed, so that paramedics could assess him before transferring him to the Quirón Salud Costa Adeje Hospital in San Eugenio for further treatment.

Traffic jams as a result of this accident have been extensive all morning with vehicles being diverted off the motorway on alternative routes for a short period of time.

After the lorry was checked over by the fire brigade, it was moved so that the road could re-open and the Guardia Civil managed traffic while Highway Maintenance proceeded with the road cleanup.
