Air Canada will introduce new non-stop flights between Tenerife and Canada this winter, with direct connections from Toronto and Montreal starting in October. The move will see three weekly services to Tenerife South Airport, improving links between the island and North America.

The airline confirmed that flights from Toronto will begin on 25th October, operating twice a week. Departures to Tenerife are scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays, with return flights on Mondays and Fridays.

The Montreal route will launch on 31st October, with flights to Tenerife on Saturdays and return services on Sundays. The routes will run throughout the winter season until April.

Local tourism officials say the new connections will strengthen Tenerife’s appeal in the North American market, making it easier for visitors from both Canada and the United States to reach the island. The flights are also expected to benefit residents and professionals travelling between Europe and North America.

The Tenerife Cabildo described the agreement as part of its wider strategy to improve air connectivity with key international markets. Tourism leaders believe the routes will help position Tenerife as a major Atlantic hub for North American travellers.

Air Canada said the Tenerife routes form part of its broader expansion plans from the continent, highlighting the island as an attractive destination for its customers. The airline also noted this will be its only direct connection to Tenerife from North America.

Passenger figures show growing demand, with more than 38,000 travellers arriving in Tenerife from Canada and the United States in 2025. Canadian visitor numbers have risen dramatically compared to pre-pandemic levels, while arrivals from the US have nearly doubled since 2019.

The flights will be operated using the Airbus A321XLR, a newer aircraft model with 182 seats, including both premium and economy cabins. The airline says the aircraft offers an improved onboard experience, particularly for long-haul routes.

For travellers, the new routes provide a more convenient option for reaching Tenerife without the need for stopovers, potentially reducing travel time and making the island more accessible for winter holidays.
