This Tuesday morning, Tenerife North Airport woke up shrouded in a thick fog, once again affecting flight schedules. The fog cleared as the day progressed, but several flights were impacted.
Following AENA's advisory on low visibility, delays ensued for both departing and arriving passengers. The situation disrupted multiple operations at the airport, with at least three flights being diverted to Tenerife South Airport, but fortunately were no cancellations.
AENA, along with Canary Islands airline Binter, urged passengers to check the status of their flights through official channels and directly with their airlines. Air Traffic Control described the situation as a "complicated morning" at Tenerife North, sharing images of some of the aborted flights on X
While such fog-related disruptions are common at Tenerife North Airport during this time of year, authorities are working diligently to minimise the impact.
Although the fog eventually lifted, allowing normal operations to resume, it is anticipated that it will return tomorrow as the forecast is for similar conditions.
