The Ministry of Health have updated today’s figures, before the review by the Governing Council this afternoon, reporting 1,078 new cases and six deaths in the Canary Islands. Active cases and hospital pressure have decreased again, with 34 people less in wards and 7 less in ICU since yesterday. Earlier today, the Canaries President, Angel Victor Torres, said it is "highly likely that some of the islands will drop a level today".
Currently, there are 14 municipalities in the islands that have a 7-day incidence rate of zero, as there have been no new cases in the last week, and five of those have no active cases at all as the downward trend continues.
By Islands, Tenerife has the most new cases today with 492 and four of the deaths as well, Gran Canaria accounts for 451 new infections and two deaths from Covid; Fuerteventura had a rebound with 129 and Lanzarote registered another 92 cases. On the other three islands, La Palma registered 55 new infections, La Gomera 5, and El Hierro 4.
