Tenerife has once again landed on the international television map as producers of the hugely popular British reality show Ex On The Beach have chosen the island as the filming location for their upcoming season. The format is known for mixing paradise holidays with volcanic levels of drama by bringing together a group of contestants who believe they are enjoying an idyllic getaway, only for their ex-partners to start turning up one by one to stir chaos.

The format looks like this: a group of men and women relax in a luxury villa, hoping for romance and a fresh start. Everything remains picture-perfect until their exes arrive unexpectedly, leading to jealousy, confrontations, reconciliations and, often, completely new relationships.

Filming is taking place in a secluded luxury villa in the south of Tenerife, with the exact location being kept under wraps to avoid crowds and spoilers.

British media have already confirmed one of the headline cast members: Curtis Pritchard, well-known from Love Island and one of the UK’s most recognisable reality TV personalities. According to reports, the 29-year-old dancer is currently in Tenerife filming the new season and will feature at the centre of one of its most intense storylines.

The drama comes from his on-camera reunion with ex-girlfriend Sophie Sheridan, whom he split from abruptly before reappearing on Love Island: All Stars earlier this year. The scenes between Curtis and Sophie are expected to be explosive, setting the stage for a particularly fiery season.

Although Curtis Pritchard is the only contestant officially confirmed so far, UK entertainment outlets are already speculating about a celebrity-packed cast for the Tenerife edition. Names circulating in the British tabloids include other Love Island personalities, such as Kaz Crossley, and returning favourites from previous MTV seasons like Callum Izzard and Nathan Henry.

Influencers and reality-show regulars from programmes including The Only Way Is Essex, Too Hot To Handle and Married at First Sight Australia are also rumoured to be involved.

What sets Ex On The Beach apart from other dating shows is its cast of influencers, social-media personalities and reality-show regulars, ensuring a steady stream of high-voltage drama that continues to draw in UK audiences.

Over the years, the show has introduced several twists that keep viewers hooked, including:

  • “Ex Week” and “Elimination Week”, where new exes arrive, and contestants vote someone out.
  • The “Cabin of Truth”, a booth where past secrets and relationship issues are exposed.
  • “Date Week”, giving contestants the chance to pick partners for romantic outings.
  • The addition of “Love Week” and “Ice Week”, alternating arrivals and dramatic exits.

This new production highlights the growing interest from international TV companies in filming across the Canary Islands. With year-round sunshine, stunning scenery and an extensive range of filming locations, from beaches and luxury villas to forests and coastal cliffs, the Islands have become a magnet for global entertainment formats.

Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends also filmed its second series on the island earlier this year. The ITV2 hit used a luxury clifftop villa in the south as its main base, with additional scenes shot around Los Cristianos, Adeje and Puerto Colón.
