Two men, aged 72 and 74, were seriously injured yesterday (Wednesday) after their car collided with a house in Candelaria, Tenerife, at around midday in Plaza Araya, according to the Canary Islands Emergency Services (CECOES 1-1-2).
Firefighters were immediately dispatched and confirmed that no one was inside the property at the time. They rescued the two men from the damaged vehicle after part of the roof collapsed onto it following the impact.
Medical teams stabilised both victims before transferring them to hospital. The 72-year-old man was taken to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias, while the 74-year-old was transported to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, both suffering serious multiple injuries.
The local Police also attended the house and are now investigating the circumstances of the crash.
In recent years, there have been reports of cars crashing into shops, bars, and private homes, often causing structural damage and, in some cases, serious injuries.
For example, in 2023, a vehicle ploughed into a café terrace in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, injuring several people, while in 2024, a car struck the front of a house in La Orotava, Tenerife, leading to emergency repairs.
