Car bursts into flames on TF-1 motorway in Tenerife
Emergency services were called to the TF-1 motorway today (Monday) after a car was completely engulfed in flames, sending thick black smoke across one of Tenerife’s busiest roads and causing severe traffic disruption.
The fire broke out on the TF-1 heading towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife, at the height of Añaza, close to the junction for the TF-2. Several motorists captured the moment the vehicle caught fire, with smoke visible from a considerable distance.
Images show the car completely on fire while a man stands several metres away, unable to do anything as the fire rapidly takes hold.
At the time of writing, it has not been confirmed whether anyone was injured. Fire crews from Bomberos de Tenerife arrived quickly and managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further.
The incident caused tailbacks along the TF-1, with drivers urged to reduce speed and exercise extreme caution while passing through the area. Motorists were also advised to follow the instructions of emergency services and consider alternative routes where possible, as delays continued while the situation was brought under control.
