Captain of Tenerife leisure boat stabbed four times by guest on board

The captain of the No Worries, a luxury boat that does private charters for tourists in the south of Tenerife, was stabbed yesterday (Thursday), in a shocking incident during a Boxing Day trip.

The alleged suspect, who has been arrested, is identified as a 22-year-old foreign national who was reportedly experiencing a “psychotic episode” at the time of the attack.

The incident occurred as the boat was sailing near Los Cristianos, when the detainee attacked and stabbed the captain once in the neck and three times in the abdomen, before assaulting several other passengers, including his own partner.

Chaos broke out on board as the situation escalated, prompting the crew to issue an emergency Mayday call and redirect the boat towards Puerto Colón in Costa Adeje.

A video capturing the ordeal shows passengers frantically calling for help as the boat approached the port. Witnesses described desperate attempts to subdue the attacker until authorities could intervene.

Upon docking, National Police officers arrested the suspect, who now faces charges of attempted murder and multiple assaults. He remains in custody while further investigations are carried out.

The captain, seriously injured in the attack, was rushed to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical care. While no updates on his condition have been made public, authorities continue to work to clarify the circumstances surrounding this unsettling event.
