Canary Green beach clean-up in north Tenerife
A successful community beach clean took place this weekend at Playa El Socorro in the north of Tenerife, bringing together volunteers determined to protect the coastline and raise awareness about marine pollution.
Organised by Canary Green, the initiative attracted more than 20 participants who spent the day clearing rubbish and microplastics from the beach and surrounding areas.
Playa El Socorro is mainly used by local residents and is already well known for its strong environmental awareness. Events like this not only help keep the area clean but also support and strengthen the ongoing efforts of the local community.
Beach clean-ups remain one of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect marine ecosystems while encouraging more sustainable behaviour among both residents and visitors.
By the end of the day, volunteers had collected around 20 kilos of waste, underlining both the scale of the problem and the positive impact that collective action can achieve.
The event also received support from local collaborators, including Ocean Beer, which provided refreshments, and Big Bang Photography, who documented the day.
Organisers expressed their gratitude to the local community for their continued care of the beach, as well as to all volunteers and partners for their enthusiasm and commitment.
