A bomb alert sparked panic and disruption at the Palacio de Justicia de La Laguna this morning (Tuesday) after a suspicious suitcase was discovered inside the building.
The threat triggered an immediate security lockdown, forcing the evacuation of court staff, lawyers and members of the public as police rushed to secure the area. The incident unfolded in the busy judicial complex in La Laguna, in Tenerife.
Local Police and officers from the National Police swiftly cordoned off the building and ordered everyone inside to leave as a precaution. The alert caused serious disruption to court activity while emergency protocols were put into place.
Specialist explosives officers from the National Police’s TEDAX unit were deployed to inspect the abandoned suitcase amid fears it could contain an explosive device. After a detailed examination, the item was declared harmless.
Police later confirmed that no explosives or dangerous materials were found. The suitcase was removed from the courthouse and transferred to the local police facilities as lost property.
No injuries were reported during the evacuation, and authorities confirmed that the building, was safe to reopen once the all-clear was given.
