The body of a 22-year-old man was discovered yesterday afternoon (Thursday) in the Barranco Grande area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The emergency services were alerted to the presence of a body at the bottom of the ravine around 2 pm.
The local police, medical personnel, and firefighters from the Tomé Cano station were all dispatched to the barranco to assist in the recovery operation.
Sources from the National Police later confirmed that the death was considered to be voluntary, ruling out any evidence of violence. As a result, the police investigation into the case has now been closed.
It has also emerged that the young man’s relatives had previously filed a missing person’s report, which had led to increased concern before his body was found.
Sadly, this is not the first time such a discovery has been made on the island. In recent years, several bodies have been found in remote or rugged areas of Tenerife following missing persons reports.
Earlier this year, the remains of a man were recovered in a ravine near La Laguna after an extensive search operation, while in 2023, a hiker was found dead in the Anaga mountains after going missing on a trekking route.
