The Telde Council has closed access to all of its beaches in the municipality as a precautionary measure due to potential safety risks following heavy rain and floods. The affected beaches include La Garita, Hoya del Pozo, Playa del Hombre, El Barranquillo, Melenara, Salinetas, and Ojos de Garza.
The restriction will remain in place until further notice.
The aftermath of the storm has left the beaches in unsuitable conditions for public use. Local authorities, including the Department of Beaches, Road Cleaning Services, and Public Safety, along with police and municipal workers, are working tirelessly to restore the beaches to a safe and welcoming state as quickly as possible.
María Calderín, a spokesperson for the Telde council, emphasised the importance of the measure: "This is a safety measure to ensure the protection of the public. After the storm, the beaches are not ready to accommodate visitors. We are working relentlessly, alongside security services and municipal staff, to get the beaches back to their best condition in the shortest possible time."
Calderín also urged residents and visitors to remain patient during this period: "We kindly ask for patience from beachgoers and appreciate their willingness to cooperate."
Authorities will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as the cleanup and restoration efforts progress.
