BREAKING: Firefighters are battling a blaze at the forests edge in Tenerife

Emergency resources are currently battling a wildfire outbreak reported this morning (Monday) in Los Realejos, as confirmed by the Canary Islands Government's Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The fire originated near the Mirador del Lance, where CECOPIN personnel and equipment from the of the Tenerife Cabildo and the Tenerife Fire Department are actively working to contain the blaze.

This is the second fire outbreak in the Canary Islands in recent hours, following a Regional Government alert for wildfire risk and a pre-alert for high temperatures in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

Last night, firefighters successfully controlled a fire that started from the burning of brush in an empty lot in La Esperanza (Tenerife), within the municipality of El Rosario.

According to CECOES, the La Esperanza fire burned approximately 7,000 square metres of an abandoned agricultural area covered with brambles, fruit trees, and eucalyptus. The fire, which began shortly after 4:00pm yesterday afternoon, was extinguished by Cabildo resources and firefighters.

With both fires highlighting the heightened risk conditions, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further incidents and urge the public to act responsibly.
