BBQ areas and campsites are temporarily closed due to fire risk

The Tenerife Cabildo has informed that activities in the forestal park areas, such as bbq’s, are suspended as of this morning (Friday) at 10:00am, and traffic through the National Park will be limited until the maximum alert, activated by the Directorate of Security and Safety is lifted.

This suspension is due to forest fire warning that has been activated this morning as extreme temperatures and hot winds are forecast from today until the middle of next week and is in accordance with the Insular Territorial Emergency Plan (PEIN).

The Minister of Management of the Natural Environment and Security, Isabel García, released a statement confirming that weather conditions with "haze and very little relative humidity” are the main reason for the fire-risk warning, and requests “strict compliance with security measures, among which the use of forest spaces is limited, such as on tracks and trails, and recreational areas and camping areas are closed, and the use of machinery or tools that can produce sparks is prohibited.”
