Arona Council remove nearly 7-tonnes of waste from beach in south Tenerife

Los Enojados beach, near Las Galletas and El Fraile in the south of Tenerife, was the scene of a major clean-up operation by Arona Town Hall this week, with almost 7 tonnes of debris and abandoned materials removed to help restore the area’s natural environment.

In total, 6,800 kilos of rubble and waste were collected and loaded into seven large containers. The operation involved a significant deployment of resources, including a backhoe, a crane truck, a container lorry, and three pick-up vehicles. A team of 12 staff from Arona’s Coastal Department, supported by external personnel, carried out the work.

The intervention was reinforced by a joint presence from the Local Police of Arona, the Guardia Civil, the Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment, and the Provincial Coastal Service of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

This large-scale clean-up is part of a wider municipal plan designed to prevent and monitor illegal dumping and unauthorised use of coastal areas. The programme will continue with further actions along other parts of Arona’s coastline in the coming months.

The council highlighted the importance of these initiatives in protecting the municipality’s natural spaces, not only for residents but also for the many tourists who enjoy Arona’s beaches each year.
