AEMET are forecasting another change in the weather across the Canary Islands this week, with an Atlantic storm expected to bring heavy and locally persistent rain today, Tuesday.
After a calm and settled Easter and start to the week, conditions will deteriorate as the storm system moves in from the Atlantic, affecting much of the archipelago.
Forecasters warn that rainfall could be significant in some areas, particularly across the more mountainous islands.
Storm Approaches from the Atlantic
According to AEMET spokesperson Rubén del Campo, the incoming storm will also bring unsettled conditions to western and southern areas of mainland Spain from Tuesday onwards, with the possibility of heavy and persistent rain in some regions.
However, the Canary Islands are expected to bear the brunt of the rainfall early in the week, with Tuesday shaping up to be the wettest day.
Looking Ahead to the Weekend
By the weekend, temperatures across mainland Spain are expected to ease back towards seasonal norms, with a chance of further rain in western and southern areas.
In the Canary Islands, cloud cover will remain more noticeable in the north of the higher islands throughout the week, with Tuesday’s rainfall expected to be the most intense and persistent.
