A worker at an ice factory in Tenerife has been seriously injured after an explosion this morning (Thursday) in the premises in the Barranco Grande area of Santa Cruz.
The 112-call centre received alerts this morning and dispatched the fire brigade, police, and ambulances to the address given on Calle Doctor José Sáez where the damage from the explosion was visible when they arrived.
Although there was damage to the building and to two cars that were parked outside, only one person was injured and no fire broke out.
After treating the injured man at the scene of the incident, medical personnel transferred him to Candelaria Hospital for further treatment of extensive injuries and burns he had suffered in the explosion.
The police have cordoned off the area, evacuated the building, and have opened an investigation to find the cause of the explosion.
