A man is killed and a woman injured by a rock falling onto the Alojera beach

A man was killed and a woman injured yesterday (Tuesday), after a rock fell onto the beach of Alojera in the municipality of Vallehermoso (La Gomera), according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The incident took place shortly before 4:15pm, when the CECOES call centre received an alert requesting medical assistance for two people who were hit by a rock falling from a cliff onto the aforementioned beach.

They mobilized the necessary emergency resources, including the GES helicopter, as the beach is in an area that is ​​difficult to access by land, so that they could attend to the injured first.

The helicopter crew airlifted both the man and the woman from the beach and took them to a landing site nearby where paramedics and police were waiting.

Paramedics assessed and treated the woman before taking her to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe for further treatment, but could only confirm the death of the man who had been killed in the incident.

The Civil Guard took charge of the legal proceedings and guarded the body until coroners arrived at the scene.
