A man dies tragically on a beach in Tenerife
A 65-year-old man died on a beach in Tenerife yesterday afternoon (Sunday), after being retrieved from the sea by Red Cross lifeguards in cardiorespiratory arrest who unfortunately couldn’t revive him.
The tragic incident occurred on Playa Castillo Beach in Puerto de la Cruz at around 1:00pm, which is when the Emergency Services received an alert and dispatched the necessary resources to the beach.
Lifeguards were already giving him CPR on the sand to try and recover him when paramedics arrived and took over. Unfortunately, despite trying for almost an hour, he didn’t respond to their efforts and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 65-year-old victim is a foreign tourist on holiday in Tenerife with his family, who were on the beach with him, but his nationality has not been released.
