The remains of a human body have been found in a valley in La Palma by a passer-by who noticed something in the ground and notified the Emergency Services about his discovery.
The National Police and Fire Brigade were dispatched to the Barranco del Carmen on the north exit of Santa Cruz de La Palma, where the bones were found so that they could cordon off the area until coroners arrived to give instructions.
After carefully inspecting the body, they ordered for it to be removed from the valley so that an autopsy can be carried out to identify the person and the cause of death.
According to the CECOES report, they believe that the body could have been there for quite some time due to the state of discomposure in which it was found. No more information has been given as to who it may be at this stage.
